Problem 9: How a 5 mA, 100 ohm galvanometer is converted into a 20 V voltmeter?

Solution

A galvanometer can be converted into a voltmeter by connecting a high resistance in series with the galvanometer.

Let the high resistance connected in series with the galvanometer is = Rh

Given data               Galvanometer current = Ig = 5 mA          Galvanometer resistance = Rg = 100 Ω

                                   V = 20 V

Formula

Put the values
